Art has consistently woven itself into my life in every state, country, and job I have occupied. It is a part of me, co-mingling with all that I see, experience, and think. From my pastimes to my social gatherings, art and it's creative expression are a part of who I am. I was introduced to ceramics in my seventh grade art class. The medium truly captured me while in college: it was there that I began my first ceramics class. Since then clay and making pots have been a major part of my life. Abilene, Guatil, Costa Rica, Nashville, and Austin have all housed instructors that have shaped not only how I create pottery, but how I live. I am constantly amazed at how pottery spans culture and time. The history and universality of ceramics are evident in each new place I visit. It holds function and beauty in our daily lives, connecting us to the past and to the people far away.
Throughout my history as a social worker I have integrated art and clay into my work with clients. Each piece has slight imperfections which highlight the uniqueness and challenge found in process. Process of art and process of self. It is a pleasure to be able to work with people and with clay in my daily life.
I have begun making new work, yet am not selling these new creations yet. Please contact me if you'd like to be updated about current work and shows.
